Latest News on ASUU Strike 2013: November Edition!

There was a hive on the 16th of
November, where there were reports
that the Academic Staff Union of
Universities, ASUU was to hold it's
National Executives Committee
meeting, however, the union leader of
university of Ibadan, Dr. Olusegun
Ajiboye has claimed that the union has
not plan to hold any of this meetings!
According to the union leader of
university of Ibadan, Dr. Olusegun
Ajiboye claimed that stories which
made the rounds on Saturday, that the
National Executive Council, NEC, would
hold an emergency meeting in Kano,
were false and untrue.
The Union leader, who was speaking in
an interview on Diamond FM, in the
University of Ibadan, UI and stated that
no meeting was scheduled for
yesterday, as they were still in the
middle of a seven-day mourning, which
was declared in honor of the late
Professor Festus Iyayi, a former national
chairman of the Union.
give me the pleasure to re-jog your
memory, that Professor Festus Iyayi lost
his life in a fatal crash, on his way to
Bayero University, Kano, BUK, where
members of ASUU were to meet and
reach a final decision, on whether to
continue with the strike or accept the
federal government's offer.
It is hoped that at the expiration of the
7days mourning of the great legend,
the union will reconvene to ratify
decision on the lingering strike that has
paralysed the academic activities of
public Universities in Nigeria.
We just hope that everything gets back
to normal and that after the morning,
academic activities will resume.
